Two New Bakeries: Aroma vs. Eliville

2008-06-28@17-17-46
After we took Schäfer’s 18 month portraits, we decided to walk over to the bus stop. On our way there, we found a new bakery called “Aroma”.

Schäfer was given unlimited free samples. Even when we gently asked the staff to please stop giving him so many sweets, it seemed impossible for them to stop. Schäfer loves Aroma!

“Hey Papa! Can I have an egg pie too?”

The bakery is quite upscale. They serve Lavazza coffee and something called “Frappe”. They also have seating available.

Hubs selected: the cheesecake, an almond biscotti, a vanilla pudding bun, an egg pie, and a whole wheat roll with raisins.

My favorite part of Aroma was the hand washing station.

After our shopping extravaganza at Aroma, we walked another 50 feet to find a second new bakery: Eliville. We’re pronouncing it “Ellie-ville”.

Eliville had Starbucks Frappuccino’s available for 29rmb ($4.26). Good thing we don’t like coffee.

When pouched on back, Schäfer finds scoring more free snacks without Papa knowing rather easy.

2008-06-28@17-24-01
Oh yes, they do have Oreo cheesecake. We tried it. It’s divine.

These chocolate cheesecake rounds are our next temptation.

Final decision: Buy the cheesecake at Eliville because it’s exactly like American cheesecake, but then head to Aroma for the indoor seating and a broader beverage selection.

What a shock it would be for Scafer to be in a country where blond children are common sights, and not to be spoiled and lavished with attention, huh? ;)
Your food photos are making me very hungry!!

This looks like a great place! My favorite photo is the one where S is peeking around from his carrier to see the egg pies–so funny!
